Teen rescued alive clinging to fishing boat, 2 others found dead in Bering Sea off Alaska
xCruzo Brief
Two boaters died and a 15-year-old was rescued alive after their 18-foot fishing boat capsized in the Bering Sea off Alaska, the U.S. Coast Guard said. Search efforts began early Monday after Alaska State Troopers reported the trio missing around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, with weather and poor visibility delaying the Coast Guard until morning. An aircraft located the teen “clinging on to the capsized vessel,” with symptoms consistent with hypothermia. The fishing boat was found overturned about 4 miles off St. Lawrence Island. An aircrew deployed a raft and equipment from above to rescue him; a good Samaritan boat transferred him to Nome, and recovered the two bodies as well.
