The Guardian Reports Nationwide Plans 275 Job Cuts in Virgin Money Integration | EconoTimes
Nationwide Building Society plans to cut 275 jobs as it integrates Virgin Money operations, according to The Guardian. The newspaper said the reductions would affect mortgage and central-office roles, including retail positions and teams in areas such as human resources, the chief operating officer’s office, customer operations, communications and finance. Nationwide told The Guardian that customer-facing staff are not at risk and that affected employees will receive support including retraining and redeployment. The planned cuts follow 600 job losses announced in June, and Nationwide also said the changes are not connected to artificial intelligence. Nationwide completed its Virgin Money purchase on Oct. 1, 2024, in a transaction valued at about £2.9 billion, and reported a legal transfer involving roughly 6.8 million customers on Apr. 2, 2026. Its interim results are scheduled for Nov. 19.
