The report says at least 30 fishing boats were destroyed when two U.S. projectiles hit the Panj-Pelleh fishing pier in Bandar Abbas in Iran’s Hormozgan Province on July 8 and 9, according to a board member of the Posht-e Shahr Fishermen’s Cooperative. Each boat was valued at around $11,000, and the attacks reportedly caused major losses for the local fishing industry. Iran’s IRNA also cited a deputy governor in neighboring Bushehr Province saying U.S. strikes hit the Benoud fishing pier in Asaluyeh and caused boats to catch fire. President Trump said the U.S. would target small boats used to lay sea mines in the Strait of Hormuz and nearby waters. The U.S. Central Command said the earlier attacks targeted about 170 Iranian targets, including air defenses and logistics infrastructure.
