UKMTO says tanker hit by unknown projectile east of Oman's Limah; no casualties reported describes an incident involving a burning tanker in Omani waters. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) agency said the vessel was hit on the port side by an unknown projectile and reported that it was on fire, with no casualties or environmental impact reported. The event occurred 8 nautical miles east of Limah, Oman, while the ship was traveling southbound on Tuesday, 7 July. UKMTO said authorities are investigating and advised ships to transit with caution and report any suspicious activity. The report also notes political tensions: Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei sharply criticized Germany for remarks by German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul on the Strait of Hormuz, accusing Berlin of complicity in military aggression against Iran, while Wadephul had urged Iran to cover mine-clearing costs after Tehran was accused of unlawfully laying mines. Earlier, Iran’s deputy foreign minister warned the Strait is not for extra-regional military demonstrations.
