Water sports and ski slope development set for Preston marina site

A Preston marina site is set to get new water-sports and winter-sport facilities after funding was secured, according to documents connected to a Lancashire planning application. Preston City Council granted planning permission in August 2023 for a “radical revamp” of the Phoenix Park site on the River Ribble, which is also home to Trax Off Road Motorsport. The plans list Trax Motorsport founder Eddie Sloane as having been securing funding, with approval tied to that completed step. The centerpiece is a “leisure lake” for activities including water-skiing, windsurfing, canoeing and stand-up paddle boarding. The proposal also includes development of a dry ski slope and a mountain bike track near the marina, creating a broader year-round leisure offering for the area.
