Watermen Race Against The Clock At 25th Annual Calvert County Boat Docking Competition

Nearly 20 boats and their crews raced against the clock Sunday in Solomons, Maryland, during the 25th annual Calvert County Watermen’s Festival and Boat Docking Competition. Hosted by the Calvert County Watermen’s Association, the event uses slips normally reserved for the University of Maryland’s research and fleet operations. Captains had to maneuver workboats of different sizes into a confined docking area as quickly and precisely as possible, balancing speed with teamwork as crew members secured lines around pilings. More than 1,000 spectators watched adult and youth divisions. The association said the 2026 festival will mark its 25th year, continuing a tradition tied to the region’s commercial fishing heritage.
