What to know about the Newsom-linked charities reportedly caught in DOJ's sights
Reported federal inquiries have refocused attention on two nonprofits tied to Siebel Newsom, The Representation Project and California Partners Project, which critics and media have linked to potential conflicts of interest involving Gov. Gavin Newsom’s circle. Investigators are reportedly examining nonprofits associated with California first lady Jennifer Siebel Newsom, while Newsom denies any connection between donations and state decisions. The DOJ has not publicly confirmed a probe, despite internal sources telling media outlets that inquiries are underway. A source cited by the California Post also claimed the FBI is looking into Siebel Newsom’s taxes. The renewed scrutiny follows earlier scrutiny in 2021 when the Sacramento Bee reported that TRP received more than $800,000 from a dozen corporations that frequently lobby California for policy concessions. The outlet also found that some donor companies later benefited from favorable treatment during Newsom’s political career from 2011 to 2019. Additional details include TRP paying Siebel Newsom directly, with her salary reported as over $160,000 annually, and providing six-figure media-production payments to a company she owns.
