Year-old missing after going into Lake Washington while watching Seafair events

Mercer Island police are searching for a 19-year-old missing after he went into Lake Washington while watching Seafair events on Friday night. Authorities say the person was last seen on July 31 at about 10:40 p.m., on a boat traveling between Seattle and Mercer Island. He told friends he needed to go to the bathroom, and officers said the boat was moving at “planing speed” until the operator slowed near the east high-rise portion of the I-90 floating bridge because of restricted speed zones. When they realized he was not on board, they searched for about five minutes before calling 911. Police used FLIR, spotlights and thermal-imaging drones across roughly 10 square miles; the search paused around 12:30 a.m. and is set to resume today.
