Acosta recovers from sprint exit to beat Martin for maiden MotoGP win in Austria

Pedro Acosta won his first MotoGP race at the Austrian Grand Prix on Sunday, rebounding from a crash during the sprint race to beat MotoGP leader Jorge Martin at KTM’s home Red Bull Ring. The 22-year-old Spaniard qualified third but exited Saturday’s sprint while leading. In the 28-lap main race, he took the lead from pole sitter Martin on lap nine and held it to the flag. Aprilia’s Marco Bezzecchi finished third. Seven-time champion Marc Marquez had a difficult weekend on his Ducati, finishing fifth after qualifying second.
