Acosta takes first MotoGP win in Austria

Pedro Acosta secured the first MotoGP win of his career at the Austrian Grand Prix, finishing at the Red Bull Ring after crashing out of the lead during Saturday’s sprint. The 22-year-old recovered to win ahead of Jorge Martin and Martin’s Aprilia teammate Marco Bezzecchi. KTM’s victory ended a wait for MotoGP success since the 2022 Indonesian Grand Prix. Seven-time champion Marc Marquez, riding a Ducati, endured a frustrating weekend and finished fifth. In the championship, Marquez now trails Martin by 12 points, with Bezzecchi a further 30 points behind. Acosta also said he is leaving KTM at year’s end.
