Agratas 'parts ways' with builders of UK's biggest EV battery plant
Agratas has parted ways with Sir Robert McAlpine, the contractor building Britain’s largest EV battery plant, marking a turning point as the first phase in Somerset reaches a milestone. McAlpine described the departure as mutual and pledged a smooth transition to the next contractor, while Agratas said the project now requires a different construction delivery model to sustain pace and quality through the next phase. The factory sits on a brownfield site near Bridgwater, Somerset, and is a cornerstone of Tata Group’s EV ambitions linked to Jaguar Land Rover. A new partner, TSL, will manage the remaining works as both sides coordinate the handover and maintain momentum toward the planned late-2020s opening window. Construction was planned to last two years with about 2,000 workers on site this year.
