America's Cheapest New EV Had Screen Failure Within An Hour
America’s cheapest new EV, the 2027 Chevrolet Bolt, faced an infotainment screen failure within an hour of purchase, according to Edmunds’ one-year road-test effort. The Bolt returns for the 2027 model year after GM’s decision to revive the model for a short 18-month production run, with a stated starting price of $28,995 including destination charges—the only new EV under $30,000 once shipping is counted. Edmunds reports that shortly after picking up the car with 15 miles on the odometer, both the central infotainment screen and the digital gauge cluster went blank. A restart attempt failed, and even after a factory reset notification, the issue persisted, forcing a dealer visit where a technician performed a hard reset via USB. Three weeks later, another reviewer saw the navigation screen blank again, later returning with only a 2G connection before the car was set to return again. Related issues were also described on owner forums.
