The Truck Never Arrived. He Says The Credit Union Still Wants Its $22K Back
A Wisconsin man says he is still paying a $22,000 loan after money was wired to a fake car dealership, leaving him without the truck. Billy Heck, from Hartford, said he found a 2019 Chevy Silverado listed online for about $26,000 in 2024, with the seller operating under apparent legitimacy in Laredo, Texas. He secured financing from Landmark Credit Union, where a loan specialist verified the supposed dealership and required a wire transfer before the vehicle would be sent. Heck told TMJ4 the truck never arrived and the dealership’s website and phone numbers stopped working. After he reported the matter to Hartford police in 2024, the investigation was suspended after detectives exhausted leads. He said he now pays $280 per month and expects payments for the next four years, while the credit union declined an interview citing customer privacy.
