xCruzo Brief

A Georgia law firm is highlighting the risks of truck crashes as the state expands commercial vehicle enforcement. The Law Office of Rickard, Drew & Nix says federal crash data show 10,109 large trucks and buses were involved in fatal and nonfatal crashes in Georgia during fiscal 2024, resulting in 184 deaths and 4,443 injuries. The firm points to the Georgia Department of Public Safety’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement division, which conducts inspections of vehicles, drivers, and cargo. It also notes that in June 2026 Georgia graduated another class of specially trained enforcement officers after 19 weeks of training. With Atlanta positioned along major freight corridors—including Interstates 75, 85 and 285—the firm says truck investigations can require review of driver qualifications, hours-of-service, electronic logs, maintenance and inspection history, and cargo documentation.
