Audi's New Nuvolari Is a 987-HP Hybrid Supercar
Audi's Nuvolari debuts as the brand's most powerful production car, leveraging a hybrid drivetrain inspired by Lamborghini to deliver near 1,000 horsepower. The powertrain combines a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 (788 hp) with three axial-flux electric motors (147 hp each), yielding a maximum system output of 987 hp and 538 lb-ft of torque. A non-plug-in 7.3 kWh lithium-ion battery supports the system, while Audi highlights a proactive quattro predictive ride that uses detailed sensor data to modulate torque, brakes, and aerodynamics. The two-seater targets exclusivity, with only 499 units planned and deliveries slated for the first half of 2027, priced at $700,000. Design draws on semi-brutalist, Bauhaus-inspired aesthetics with a focus on downforce and aerodynamics to match performance goals. Front-axle motors contribute torque up to 1,586 lb-ft, with a third electric motor positioned between the V8 and transmission to coordinate drive, underscoring Audi's integrated approach to high-end hybrid performance.
