Audi won't upgrade its F1 power unit again until 2027

Audi will not bring further upgrades to its Formula 1 power unit this season due to budget limits, with the next engine update planned for the 2027 campaign. Racing director Allan McNish said the decision reflects a trade-off between spending on power unit and chassis upgrades now versus saving resources for later battles across multiple seasons, not just one. Audi, which entered F1 as a new works team after taking over Sauber this year, did upgrade the power unit in June after a slow start. The team is eighth among 11 in the constructors’ standings, scoring points in the last three races for 12 total.
