Formula 1 is bringing the Bahrain Grand Prix back to the Sepang circuit in Malaysia this weekend, but under the full title “Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia.” Bahraini organizers are effectively exporting their familiar race-weekend setup to Kuala Lumpur’s venue, including staff, traditions and branding visible around the paddock. Signage such as “Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia 2026” will appear on site, alongside Bahrain-style hospitality elements like benches with cushions, rugs, Arabic music and even a shawarma stand. The Bahrain International Circuit is fully financing the event, while Sepang provides the venue and helps run the weekend. The relocation followed the March 14 decision to cancel Bahrain and Saudi Arabian races in April due to Middle East conditions, with a Malaysia option agreed on July 26 for October 2-4. More than 561 Bahraini marshals and officials are supporting the event, and fans will see “Bahrain Village” programming including Chinese acrobats and concerts by Axwell and Martin Garrix.
