BajaLite Is Back, and It Could Be Your Ticket to Real Baja Racing
xCruzo Brief
Desert Race Experience (DRX) is bringing back the BajaLite class, along with an “arrive-and-drive” program designed to lower the barrier for new off-road drivers. DRX says the BajaLite race class is set to return through its DRX Race Series, which plans to compete in major off-road events starting next year. The program also ties into DRX’s broader ecosystem: training via a desert race school, support for race operations across a 1,000-mile Mexican peninsula, and hospitality. BajaLites are described as old-school trucks with proper shiftable transmissions, GM Ecotec engines, and 35-inch tires. DRX is also taking ownership of the class following the 2019 death of driver “Pistol” Pete Sohren, with his family’s blessing.
