Beach's Day In Dramatic Quad Lock Superbike Race 1 At Ridge | GPOne
Quad Lock Superbike Race 1 at Ridge Motorsports Park delivered a major points swing, with JD Beach winning after moving up from the third row. Beach, who qualified ninth, took victory by 4.501 seconds in a race disrupted by high-profile retirements and changing championship fortunes. Entering the weekend, OrangeCat Racing’s Sean Dylan Kelly led by one point over Strack Racing’s Mathew Scholtz, but Race 1 shifted momentum strongly. Scholtz, returning to action after a big Free Practice 2 crash that required rebuilding his Yamaha YZF-R1, finished second for 20 points, putting him back on top of the standings with 125 points, 10 ahead of Kelly’s 115 ahead of Sunday’s Race 2. Pole-sitter PJ Jacobsen, riding Rahal Ducati with XPEL, led by more than eight seconds but crashed out entering The Ridge Complex. Cameron Petersen also retired after closing to 0.136 on Beach before losing the rear in Turn 15. Richie Escalante (Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki) claimed the fastest lap with a 1:55.196 and finished third, ahead of Benjamin Smith and Brandon Paasch.
