Billy Joel’s Motorcycles Head to Auction

More than 70 motorcycles from Billy Joel’s personal collection will be offered at auction in November, with the first stop during Retromobile New York. The collection, called the Billy Joel Motorcycle Collection, will be displayed at Christie’s Rockefeller Center from October 8–12 before being sold at Gooding Christie’s at the Javits Center on November 20–21. Joel, now 77, has sold over 150 million records in his five-decade career and won six Grammy Awards. The coverage notes that he preferred riding; his bikes were kept at his 20th Century Cycles shop in Oyster Bay, New York, where many were maintained and updated for rideability.
