Bought a 6-bedroom villa in the Italian countryside for $50,000. Within a year, I'd left the US and fully moved in.
A six-bedroom villa purchase in Italy’s countryside became a fast transition for a MotoGP professional who relocated from the U.S. to Europe within a year. After a decade of transatlantic travel, the buyer targeted Tuscany for its calmer lifestyle and proximity to international airports, ultimately choosing the comune of Pistoia, about 30 minutes from Florence. The historic, three-story villa was neglected and required major renovation, including six bedrooms, two kitchens, and a dining room. The property was acquired for about 45,000 euros (just under $50,000 at the time) after negotiations, legal steps, and fees. Renovations began in early 2024 with permits across construction work, including full rewiring, plumbing, and roof replacement, while staying within a remaining budget of about 150,000 euros.
