BYD launches new Seagull EV with 5-minute Flash Charging, starting under $10,000

BYD has launched the second-generation Seagull EV in China as its cheapest electric car, now equipped with “Flash Charging” that can add 10% to 70% charge in five minutes. Prices start at 62,900 yuan (about $9,500) with BYD’s “Super Trade-in” promotion; without incentives, regular pricing begins at 65,900 yuan ($9,900), down from 69,900 yuan ($10,500) for the first-gen model. The new hatchback is 4,205 mm long with a 2,650 mm wheelbase, adds a fifth seat, and switches from front- to rear-wheel drive. It uses Blade Battery 2.0 packs (30.1 or 39.2 kWh) for CLTC ranges of 320 or 420 km.
