BYD says demand is 'booming' for the new Denza Z EV as global pre-orders top 1,000
BYD’s Denza Z EV puts the spotlight on high-performance electric supercars as the company says demand is “booming” ahead of broader availability. BYD Denza launched the model at the Goodwood Festival of Speed on Friday, with global pre-orders exceeding 1,000 units in just five days, according to Denza on Tuesday. In the UK, pre-orders start at £142,900 (about $192,000) starting July 9, while in China pre-orders opened Monday at 680,000 RMB (about $100,000), roughly half the UK price. The Denza Z uses BYD’s e3 platform and three electric motors delivering a combined 1,582 hp (1,604 PS) and 914 lb-ft (1,240 Nm). With optional semi-slick tires, the Racing version reaches 0–62 mph in 1.96 seconds and a 217 mph (350 km/h) top speed. Recharge goes from 10% to 97% in 9 minutes on a 800V setup.
