Car jumped red light then hit people, court hears
Car jumped a red light then hit people, court hears, describing a serious incident in west London involving an alleged vehicle breach at a pedestrian crossing. Prosecutors told Willesden Magistrates’ Court that Ahmed Timir, 34, approached the signal-controlled crossing on Ealing Broadway on Saturday while the light was red and a large group of pedestrians was crossing. The court heard Timir, of Grange Park, Ealing, struck multiple people and they were “projected into the air”, suffering injuries including broken facial bones and a broken pelvis. Prosecutors allege he then continued driving, crashing into stationary traffic at a junction involving a Toyota Corolla and a Toyota Prius, before driving away and being stopped on Warwick Road. Timir faces five attempted murder counts, dangerous driving, failing to stop, failing to provide a breath specimen, and criminal damage. He is due at the Old Bailey on 27 July; authorities say it is not being treated as terrorism.
