Cars' returns to theaters for its 20th anniversary - Classic Rock 97.1 The Drive - WDRV Chicago

Disney and Pixar are bringing Cars back to theaters to mark its 20th anniversary, with screenings in the film’s original format starting Sept. 4. The rerelease also aligns with Cars Lightning McQueen Day on Sept. 5, commemorating the character’s race car number, 95. The celebration includes multiple partnerships and activations: an integration tied to Route 66’s centennial anniversary, screenings at the historic Tee-Pee Drive-In in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, and Tulsa Circle Cinema in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A Cars-wrapped Mercedes Safety Car is slated to appear near a life-size Lightning McQueen at the Formula 1 Gran Premio D’Italia 2026.
