China Teases A New Luxury Sedan To Rival Rolls-Royce

BYD is teasing a luxury sedan positioned to rival the Rolls-Royce Ghost. The Yangwang Altior—previously known by the codename “HU”—will make its public debut on November 5 in Dubai, aiming directly at the world’s most expensive sedans. BYD says the Altior name reflects a move “upmarket,” derived from a Latin word meaning “higher.” The car shown so far wears a roof-mounted lidar sensor, large chrome wheels, and rear-hinged rear doors, while its front styling echoes the Yangwang U8 off-road SUV. For the China market it will be called Dingyao, with “Altior” reserved for international sales.
