Two months after the Swedish-Chinese automaker was ordered to leave the market, it reportedly sent a letter to nearly three dozen dealerships citing confusion over the U.S. government’s June 24 decision. In an August 18 message seen by The Wall Street Journal, Polestar also claimed the U.S. Department of Commerce had indicated it would be allowed to stay, but it was later denied. Peter Wexler, Polestar’s U.S. head of product, retail network and government affairs, said the company is trying to obtain requested information from Commerce.
