Could your Tesla be affected? NHTSA probes Model 3 and Model Y suspension failures

Tesla could face a safety recall as the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration opens a probe into suspension failures involving Model 3 and Model Y. Regulators received more than 150 complaints alleging the front lower lateral link can detach, potentially causing drivers to lose directional control. The inquiry covers 2018–2020 Model 3 vehicles and 2021–2023 Model Ys, with about 1.2 million vehicles estimated to be affected. NHTSA says in most reports there was no advance warning, though some cited noises before detachment. If the agency finds an unreasonable safety risk, a recall could follow; its assessment is still preliminary. Tesla did not comment, and NHTSA says the failures don’t appear linked to earlier production issues.
