Dominant Marquez seals landmark German GP win to complete Sachsenring double
Marc Marquez turned his German Grand Prix sprint momentum into a landmark victory to complete a Sachsenring double and strengthen his MotoGP championship bid on July 12. The seven-time world champion, riding a factory Ducati, converted pole into the win and managed the race from the front after his younger brother Alex Marquez stayed close early before crashing out on lap 10. With Alex out, Marquez held off Trackhouse Racing’s Raul Fernandez and Ai Ogura to secure his record 10th premier-class win at the circuit. Ogura passed Fernandez late to finish second, while Fernandez took third. Jorge Martin, leading the standings, finished fifth for Aprilia, with KTM’s Pedro Acosta fourth. Fabio Di Giannantonio crashed early, and Marco Bezzecchi missed both races after fracturing his left collarbone in qualifying, with surgery reported as successful.
