Driver in deadly Kansas soccer field crash released while investigation continues
A 34-year-old woman in Wichita, Kansas, has been released without charges after a pickup truck drove onto a soccer field during a youth game, killing two people and injuring 10 others, police said Sunday. The driver was released pending toxicology test results and a mechanical examination of the Chevrolet truck after Saturday’s crash at Stryker Sports Complex in northeast Wichita. Wichita Police Chief Joe Sullivan said investigators are continuing to determine exactly what happened. Police identified the victims as Cole Adrian, 6, and Nicholas Schafer, 35. Ten other injured people, aged 5 to 68, were taken to area hospitals with non-serious injuries. Investigators interviewed more than 30 witnesses, including the driver and her two children inside the truck.
