Elon Musk Says Tesla Robotaxi Expansion to Miami, Tampa Beaches Is 'Coming Soon' After Ron DeSantis' Call

Elon Musk said Tesla’s Robotaxi service is “coming soon” to beaches in Miami and Tampa after Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis called for coverage of those areas. DeSantis shared on X an update to Robotaxi “Geofences” posted by investor and influencer Sawyer Merritt. Merritt cited service footprints in square miles: Austin (272) and Houston (254), Dallas (81), Miami (31), and Tampa plus Orlando (24 and 26 respectively). “They need to have the Tampa and Miami ones include the beaches!” DeSantis wrote, and Musk replied simply, “Coming soon.” The article notes that Alphabet’s Waymo already covers Miami and Tampa, including beach areas. Separately, Merritt claimed Tesla’s Cybercab fleet in Austin reached 544 units versus 507 Model Y Robotaxis, with 1,051 Robotaxis total registered there.
