Fernando Alonso calls for Honda investigation amid ongoing complaints
Fernando Alonso said Aston Martin needs a Honda power-unit investigation after another difficult Singapore weekend. The Silverstone-based team arrived with new regulations-era upgrades, but results have lagged behind expectations, leaving Alonso just missing Q2. In the race, he described growing frustration with pace, turbo behavior, drivability and deployment, pointing to problems that he believes are tied to the power unit. After the race, Alonso said there was “something on the power unit” not performing as it should and that the team must identify causes such as drivability and turbo lag before upcoming slow-corner races like Mexico and potentially Vegas. He admitted he couldn’t tell whether issues were unique to Marina Bay, noting Sepang and Baku had been trouble-free. Both cars started from the pit lane; Alonso’s turbo was replaced, yet he reported losses on deployment, including virtual safety car restarts, and difficulty placing the car precisely on track, with 200–300 metres falling back each straight.
