Fiat 500e price cut to £17k thanks to UK's Electric Car Grant
Fiat 500e becomes one of the cheapest cars in the UK after qualifying for the top band of the Government’s Electric Car Grant (ECG). The scheme provides either £1,500 or £3,750 off a new electric car price based on factors including battery and full-vehicle production emissions and warranty requirements. With the £3,750 discount, the 500e’s starting price drops to £17,245, making it £1,750 cheaper than the upcoming 500 Hybrid. Only a handful of models are listed as currently cheaper: the Kia Picanto (£17,095), Dacia Sandero (£14,765), Leapmotor T03 (£12,995) and Dacia Spring (£11,995). Autocar reports Fiat registered fewer than 1,000 500e units in the UK last year. Fiat’s first-half 2026 sales fell 39% year-on-year to 3,748 cars. The updates are also tied to the UK ZEV mandate, and a next-year 500e refresh is planned.
