Five Ford Models Are Being Recalled For The Same EcoBoost Engine Problem - Jalopnik
xCruzo Brief
Ford is recalling 10,001 vehicles across five model lines due to a potential engine piston-dome manufacturing issue, according to an NHTSA filing. The recall covers 2026 model-year vehicles, including 1,062 Broncos with the 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine, plus 237 Mustangs, 3,071 Explorers, and 432 Rangers with the same engine. It also includes 5,199 Bronco Sports equipped with the 1.5-liter EcoBoost inline-3. Ford says the piston domes may have been made incorrectly, leading to bond failure between a nickel-resistant (Ni-Ring) insert and aluminum, potentially causing piston dome failure. The parts were supplied by Dong Yang Piston in Mexico.
