Florida driver fleeing traffic stop slams head-on into school bus carrying 19 children, then runs from scene

A Florida man accused of fleeing a traffic stop slammed head-on into a school bus carrying 19 children early Tuesday morning, then ran on foot from the scene, authorities said. The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said the children were safe and uninjured. The incident began around 7:20 a.m. when a deputy spotted Qahiem Williams, 23, allegedly driving 17 mph over the limit on County Road 466 near The Villages Intermediate Center. Authorities said Williams allegedly sped up, sideswiped two vehicles, damaged his axle, and then hit the school bus on County Road 103. Video and body-camera footage show a deputy pursuing and arresting him near a Walmart. Williams faces multiple charges and was held without bond.
