Footage shows 'cars on fire' during memorial for victim of A66 crash

Footage circulating online shows cars being burned during a memorial for a victim of the A66 wrong-way crash in County Durham. The images show a blaze in a field in Haswell, with balloons also released into the sky. Seven people were killed in the collision, including two police officers, after one car drove the wrong way. Local reports say the burning vehicle is thought to be dedicated to Michael Robert Cahill, 23, who died in the crash. Police responded to multiple incidents across Teesside on Thursday night, 27 August, with about 200 extra officers drafted in. The force is also investigating whether the A66 crash is linked to a Grangetown house fire.
