Honda Dismisses Rumors Of Making Body-On-Frame Models With Nissan

A new report said Honda and Nissan were exploring opportunities that “could yield” body-on-frame (ladder-frame) vehicles, but Honda is dismissing the idea. A Honda spokesperson told Road & Track that the claim is “purely speculative” and said the automaker only has an existing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Nissan, announced in March 2024, to explore strategic cooperation. Honda doesn’t sell any ladder-frame models today. The speculation surfaced as Nissan moves to reintroduce the Xterra as a body-on-frame SUV and develops a next-generation Frontier, which could create platform-sharing possibilities.
