Ford issues 77th recall of the year, this time over Ranger backup cams

Ford issued its 77th recall of the year, covering 11,451 Ranger midsize pickups that may have a rearview camera failure. According to a Sept. 22 filing with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, certain trucks equipped with a 10.1-inch center-stack screen could lose power, preventing the backup camera image from appearing while reversing and increasing the risk of a crash. The majority of affected units are 2026 model year, while 46 fall between 2024 and 2026. NHTSA said Ford will notify owners by letter on Oct. 5, with additional letters when a remedy is available at dealerships free of charge. Ford reported no accidents tied to blank screens as of Sept. 14, but listed 15 related warranty claims in North America.
