Ford has won a U.S. Defense Department contract to develop three prototype heavy-duty tactical trucks, based on its F-Series Super Duty, in what the company calls its largest military vehicle opportunity in decades. The Dearborn automaker is now competing alongside General Motors to build future U.S. Army infantry squad vehicles (ISV-H), aimed at moving troops and equipment over rough terrain and supporting mobile charging for drones and command-and-control gear.
