Ford recalls more than 250,000 Focus models due to engine stall risk

Ford is recalling 255,404 Ford Focus vehicles from model years 2012-2018 due to a potentially stuck open canister purge valve that can cause unexpected engine stalling. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration lists recall number 26V369, with the original 18V735 notice and current recall 26S40. Dealers will perform a free powertrain software update, and owner notification letters are slated for July 6-10.

The issue can trigger a Malfunction Indicator Light and inaccurate fuel gauges; Ford emphasizes the remedy will be provided at no charge, with VIN lookups available on NHTSA.gov starting July 6.
