Ford recalls more than half a million Broncos due to engine fire risk
Ford recalls more than half a million Broncos due to an engine-compartment wiring harness defect that raises fire risk. The automaker said Thursday that 565,691 Ford Broncos and Bronco Raptors, covering model years 2021–2026, are included in the recall. Ford estimates about 1% of the vehicles have the wiring harness issue. The company is not aware of any reports of accidents or injuries tied to the problem. Ford says insufficient protection can leave exposed wires, which may short-circuit; drivers could see smoke from air vents or dashboard warnings before flames appear from the passenger-side of the engine compartment. Dealerships will install new harness covers free of charge, recall number 26S55, with related VINs searchable on NHTSA.gov.
