Temperance man found dead along U.S. 24 likely struck by vehicle, deputies say
A man found dead along U.S. 24 / Telegraph Road in Monroe County was likely struck by a vehicle, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the report came at about 1:28 a.m. Thursday, after someone found a man appearing passed out on the side of the road in Bedford Township, roughly one-fourth of a mile north of Crabb Road. The victim was identified as Kevin Wayne Chesney, 61, from Temperance. The Lucas County coroner’s office in Toledo performed an autopsy and concluded Chesney died from blunt force to the head, “presumed to be caused from impact by a motor vehicle.” The involved vehicle left the scene and may have been a pickup or commercial vehicle, with likely damage on the passenger side. U.S. 24 / Telegraph Road was closed for several hours during the initial investigation. Authorities asked witnesses to contact Traffic Services or Crime Stoppers of Michigan.
