Ford recalls nearly 388,000 Explorers and Aviators over seats that could unlatch or tip reports a safety recall covering nearly 388,000 vehicles tied to second-row seat hardware. The recall affects certain 2020 to 2027 Ford Lincoln Aviator models and 2020 to 2026 Ford Explorer vehicles. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the defect could cause seats to unlatch, tip or slide unexpectedly, which could prevent proper occupant restraint in a crash and increase injury risk. Ford’s Critical Concern Review Group had identified 14 reports of unintended second-row seat movement while the vehicle was in drive as of June 16. Owners will be able to visit dealers for inspection and replacement of the defective bezel free of charge. Notification letters are scheduled to be sent starting July 27, 2026, with recall number 26S52.
