Ford's $30,000 electric pickup will have Apple Maps built in with EV routing and more

Ford and Apple announced an integration that will bring Apple Maps directly into Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) platform. Using Apple’s MapKit for Automotive SDK, Ford’s UEV vehicles will deliver turn-by-turn directions with real-time data, EV routing, and battery preconditioning, starting with a midsize electric pickup in 2027. Ford also plans to use Apple Maps’ road-level data to enhance its BlueCruise hands-free highway driving features, aiming for a smoother on-ramp and off-ramp experience. The next-generation self-driving development is led by Ford’s Latitude AI team of 600 specialists in machine learning, robotics, and software. Ford CEO Jim Farley said the pickup will be priced around $30,000 and will be on sale in 2027, with prototypes already spotted testing.
