Ford to invest $1B for new paint shop at Kentucky Truck Plant
Ford says it will invest $1 billion in a new paint shop at Kentucky Truck Plant, its largest and highest-revenue facility producing Ford Super Duty trucks and Expedition SUVs. Groundbreaking is set to begin before the end of the year, and Ford says construction won’t affect vehicle production. The plant employs more than 8,900 workers, according to the company. Ford CEO Jim Farley framed the move as support for Kentucky’s workforce and American manufacturing. The announcement arrives amid recent criticism in Washington, including backlash tied to Ford’s relationships with Chinese firms. Ford also plans a separate $1 billion investment at its nearby Louisville Assembly Plant for a next-generation electric vehicle platform, including a sub-$30,000 midsize pickup, the Fathom.
