Ford US sales drop 10% in August, as F-Series starts restock

Ford Motor Co. reported U.S. sales fell 10.3% year over year in August to 170,681 vehicles, with the drop tied to declines in daily rental and fleet volume. The company said retail share edged higher even as it discontinuing the Escape and Lincoln Corsair crossovers to retool for next-generation electric vehicles. Stronger performance in higher-margin models helped offset losses from the outgoing volume, including Maverick up 14% (with its hybrid up 50%) and Ranger up nearly 19%. F-Series was down 1.2% as production ramps, while Super Duty rose 4%. Inventory remains under 40 days, and Ford expects dealers to target 50–60 days supply.
