Fugitive on FBI Chicago's most wanted list now in custody
Fugitive on FBI Chicago's most wanted list now in custody details the arrest of Gary Luellen, described by the FBI Chicago as a former carjacking suspect and one of its most wanted fugitives. Luellen, 24, who also uses aliases including “Bird” and “Lil Bird,” appeared in court Tuesday before Judge Sara Ellis at Dirksen Federal Courthouse and remains in custody pending proceedings. Federal records say he was indicted in January 2024 on charges including conspiracy to defraud the United States, carjacking, and using, carrying and brandishing a firearm related to a violent crime. An arrest warrant was issued Feb. 1, 2024, and the FBI Chicago announced a $10,000 reward for information leading to his capture. Prosecutors said Luellen and others carjacked a man at gunpoint on April 18, 2023, stealing a 2022 Dodge Challenger.
