Honda completes historic 2026 IndyCar street circuit sweep with DC win
Honda completed a historic sweep of every IndyCar street circuit race on the 2026 calendar, after Kyle Kirkwood won the Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C. The result extended Honda’s streak of victory at debut street circuits dating back to 2012, when multi-manufacturer engine competition returned. Across the six street races so far, Honda-powered entries won 15 of 18 podium spots and accounted for 543 of 597 total laps—over 90% of street-circuit laps run this year. In Washington alone, Honda led all but three laps of 147. The Washington win was Honda’s first full street-course season sweep since 2023 and follows 23 victories in 29 street-course races since 2021. Honda also leads Chevrolet by 1,316 to 1,110 in the manufacturers’ standings.
