Honda crowned 2026 IndyCar manufacturers' champions

Honda clinched the 2026 IndyCar Manufacturers’ Championship at the Milwaukee Mile doubleheader weekend, winning its eighth series title and 12th American open-wheel championship overall. The mark also came 30 years after Honda’s first American Open Wheel title in 1996. The weekend delivered an extra headline for Honda-powered IndyCar: Alex Palou, in the #10 Chip Ganassi Racing entry, captured his fourth consecutive—and fifth in six seasons—drivers’ championship after Sunday’s race. Honda’s season dominance spanned road courses, short ovals, superspeedways, and street circuits, totaling 10 wins, 13 poles, and five sweep podiums, with 13 of 15 Honda cars scoring points. Felix Rosenqvist won the 110th Indianapolis 500 for Honda at a historically close finish. With one race left at Laguna Seca, the Rookie of the Year battle remains: Honda leads 1-2, with Dale Coyne Racing’s Dennis Hauger 18 points ahead of Mick Schumacher.
