Honda Denies Broken Turbo in Singapore as Alonso Reveals Strange Deployment Issues
xCruzo Brief
Honda says its power unit was not broken in the Singapore GP, after Fernando Alonso reported turbo problems and multiple concerns on the car’s performance. Honda later updated the turbo with a second ADUO software update aimed at improving it, and both Alonso and Lance Stroll started from the pitlane after the changes. Honda’s trackside chief Shintaro Orihara said there was no data anomaly pointing to a failure, but components were replaced as a precaution based on Alonso’s feedback. The power unit will be tested at Honda’s Sakura base. Orihara added the team has two weeks to verify everything carefully, while Alonso hinted the issue could be software-related and described unusual deployment behavior after the Virtual Safety Car.
